Another day ... another batch ... and at this point we have completed the arduous task of introducing to you the candidates of the Mr. Expo World Philippines 2008. At this time, some of you have already bets on who will come out grinning tonight ... with sash in one hand and a trophy on the other.
And as Philippines thirst for another international winner ( Alexander Aquino won Mr. International in 2001, Vincent Pinto placed third in Manhunt Int'l 1997, but nobody has come close to these positions recently. Marvin Wijangco was semifinalist at Manhunt this year and Iago Raterta had the same semifinalist spot at Manhunt 2005. Other pageants like Mr. World and Mr. International and we come up empty handed.
I was looking at the ex Mr. Expo winner from Puerto Rico ,Omar Martinez, and I only wish the judges should see him in person, before they cast their votes. He was short all right, (maybe about 5 ft and 7 inches) and I thought his facial beauty make up for whatever he lack in height.
He was dwarfed when placed side by side with six footers, but he looked like a giant when his face and smile radiates vermillion in the stage.
Of course, there is no clear-cut secret in winning pageants. Selection varies from year to year, from one judge to another. But beauty of the face is a MUST, and LUCK also plays an important ingridient to the recipe.
Now I wonder if Raymond Lim fared better had he been given the chance to compete last year.

Two decades of male pageants spearheaded by Ginoong Filipinas in 1990 (followed by Maharlika, Bodyshots and the likes) there is one question that begs to be answered: Are Male Pageants here to stay?
Indeed they have managed to outlast the requisite 2 years life span given by their critics, and from the looks of it more male pageants are born without the benifit of marriage. From barangay to national A-Z level (from Aparri to Zamboanga), even international A-Z(from Afghanistan to Zaire) , male pageants are mushrooming like there's no tomorrow.
They continue to disprove naysayers who has dismissed their presence like a traffic nuisance and worse consider their fate as .... "flash in the pan."
And with the advent of Mr. Expo World Philippines 2008, one thing is galvanized: that this men
in tight fitting swimwears are unstoppable and they will continue to flex those muscles and gyrate their way to your hearts.
So give way to Mr. Expo World Philippines 2008. The finals will be tomorrow Oct 8, 2008.
The show will start at 7 PM and the venue is Metro Bar located at West Avenue Quezon City. Tomorrow's night winner will represent Philippines at Mr. Expo World in Guatemala.
Tickets are available at Metro Bar's boxoffice.

The ladies have Miss Universe pageant, so it is time and only right that the gentlemen have the Mr. Expo-World pageant.
For why indeed should the gentlemen be denied the right to compete and be chosen the best representative of their gender? And why indeed will he be denied to be judged the epitome of masculine beauty, poise and total personality?
Well, Mr. Expo World have just done that. And not to be outdone are the Filipinos who will be having Mr. Expo World Philippines finals tomorrow night (Oct 6, 2008 at 7 PM at Metro Bar located at West Avenue Quezon City.
As of presstime, my good friend UPH has shared me the list of potential candidates. and browsing thru the photos , I can say the men for tomorrow's showdown can really inject some kind of adrenalin, or give us some kind of energy drink that we need after the rains and typhoons, the milk scare, and America's economy going down the drain have dampened and shaken our spirits .
SO my friends ... this is not the time to sulk or feel beaten up. Go out and have some fun
and watch Mr. Expo World Philippines 2008. Who knows after the show... the heat of the night may give you a new-found perspective , that after all these recent beatings ... we can say "life may not be that bad after all."
