It was written in the stars! And he was destined to be a winner! And now the story can be told.
Did you know that Mike Manansala (a 23 year old 6 ft and 2 inches head turner-model from Pampanga and a Will Devaugn carbon copy) was just a replacement to a candidate who is withdrawing from the pageant because a family member passed away? Was his participation a stroke of fate or was Mike just being there in a right time and a right place? Or was luck or a good karma in play here?
And now more questions arise, the "what if ..." questions that makes facts turn to mystery, and people trying to answer it in quandary. What If ... Francis So and Kerwin Caballero did not withdraw from the contest, and Mike was not even a candidate (and maybe was just sleeping or partying with friends that night), who could have been the eventual winner?
Could it be the first runner up Thomas Anthony Malko, a sleepy-eyed hunk that make the audience woke up and pay attention because of his too-good-to-be-true-porma? Or could it be second runner up BB (the body beautiful) Farzan Nasirian and his ability to flex his biceps and then the judges nod too? Or would it be another darkhorse who is may not even at play here but kicks butt at the halftime and blow the jury's mind at the end?
MIP 2009 also proved that Pampanga is the winningest province there is, and is considered the beauty factory in the country. This province who was lately battered by Ondoy and Pepeng continued to make their strong presence felt and some friends even say its records is almost comparable to Venezuela in terms of its winning streaks, attitude, and solid performance. Proof of that is the long list of beauty queens from Mimilanie Marquez to Gay Balingit who has made the country proud in the contest they joined. In the male division, they are even bigger than life with the success of Reggie Curley at Bodyshots, Ralph Schwein, Jayson Colis and Eric Yanlung at Ginoong Filipinas, Rio Ferreras at Maharlikang Pilipino and the list goes on. And on.
The big question is ... will Michael Manansala continue the streak his predecessors have started at the Mr. International contest in Taiwan in November? Will his clean shaven head creates ripples or will it be a liability? Hope springs eternal. Meanwhile here's the complete list of winners.

As expected , the swimwear competetion of the Mr. International Philippines 2009 was a Battle Royale with 15 candidates with toned bodies, eye-popping gastrocnemius, bulging crotches and abs too hard to ignore paraded before an audience dazed with whom to clap their hands and who to cheer. Their eyes squinted on who to look at the stage busy with too much activity as the candidates tried themselves to make pa-cute or get the audience applause.

The candidates with an average height of 5 ft and 11 inches, mostly mammoth giants of 6 ft to six ft and 2 inches caliber duked it out as they proudly show what they got both physical and intellectual. Too bad, the judges had to narrow them down and select the creme de la creme of the crop, but for what it's worth almost all candidates deserved the adulation they get that night.

But in Man Central's beauty microscope, in our estimation Farzam Nasirian the Fil-Iranian Adonis who makes the gym as his second home tops everyone else in the physique department, his torso his prized possession and his body sculpted to perfection what with years of stringent nutrition and pumping irons.

THE HEAT IS ON! At least fifteen of young and handsome men made it to the finals of this years Mr. International Philippines 2008. From a group of more than 33 wannabees, they were trimmed down to half ... to give you more chance to see each one of them upclose and personal!

Garbed in plain shirts and denim pants only, the camera of Ian Felix Alquiros and partner Dan Santos (two moving giants behind The Men's Room) has never seen enough clicks and camera flashes to their memory.

Kibitzers to the photo shoot swear that this year's MIP questers promises a slambang competetion on male beauty, talent and intellegence.

Another onlooker heralded the group as the fresh and the youthful batch, and it poses to be the biggest assembly of good looking studs and pups. Young and restless faces, bolder and more daring ... makes MIP 2008 a campaign like no other.

Judge for yourself then ... as we invite you to witness who among these men will represent our country In the Mr International contest to be held in Taiwan sometime in October. We did it once before when Alexander Aquino wowed the world when he bested a bevy of world's finest Adonises. This year may not be different.

So see you on September 1, 2008 at A. Venue Mall (7829 Makati Avenue corner Valdez St. Makati, Metro Manila). The contest will start at 7 PM. See you there ...
