It is quite unusual when USA, one country where beautiful men abounds, has Puerto Rico born model representing the East Coast and the whole country as a whole. Some people find that hard to believe because you go out of the street in America and in one minute you will see or bump in one gorgeous All American guy all capable of representing America in any contest. You open magazines or watch your favorite show in TV ... chances are you will see one yummy hunk capable of wearing a sash and give USA another trophy in its beauty shelf. So why Jaime Augusto Mayol for Manhunt?
I think the whole thing can be explained this way. America is one country who has been open to all people from any country ... as they say, America is a land of a free and all people from all ethnicities rubs elbows and live together in perfect harmony. How many times was the country represented by a black woman, and just last year, Miss USA was of Mid Eastern origin. Remember also Miss Teen USA Vanessa Minnillo? She was a Filipina.
People have nothing against Jaime Augusto Mayol. In fact they were too grateful and proud too, he brought home the title. He made all Americans proud and he was every inch a winner. I guess they were just wondering with all the white guys drowning our consciousness in TV commercials and also in movies, they were expecting a white guy to represent America.
And from out of these confusion ... is one lesson learned. The face of America in ever changing. You wake up in the morning and you will see Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, and Asians in our midst.
You also see Buddhists, Muslims and Christians ... and for what it is worth, everyone manage to live peacefully as one united country... and they all proudly call themselves Americans.
South Africa is always represented by a white candidate. I also saw a pageant with a black Italian, or a Thai Mr. Germany, or an American Mr. Philippines, or a Japanese Mr. Brazil. The world is ever changing and so are the people who continuesly move from one country to another. And with all these movements ... there will be time in the future Manhunt America or Mr. World will again be represented by a candidate with Russian or with a Chinese descent maybe. And color or religion does not become an issue anymore.
